Spring Flowers
It started in Spring with flowers of the most vivid blues.
They filled a small glass bottle on a table in the studio . . . . . I made a small drawing to rejoice in the shapes of each one, arranged together into a posy which lead, as these drawings often do, to a small painting capturing the stems, water, speckled leaves, shadows, brilliance . . . . .
There are always mistakes - successes - satisfaction (rare) and final abandonment otherwise known as ‘being finished and framed’. . . . .
Then out of the blue came this . . . . . Amazingly only 3 times the size of the little painting, these flowers are so much larger than life they give a feeling of a child’s astonished encounter with
